Fossil Bay Lodge is a family run lodge that offers unique and affordable accommodation on Waiheke Island. We work hard to make sure you have a peaceful and relaxing place to stay and enjoy our beautiful island.
Fossil Bay is conveniently located at the eastern end of Waiheke, within easy walking distance to multiple beautiful beaches, plentiful nature walks and tramping tracks, and the main township of Oneroa village.
Within a 15 minute walk you can be in the centre of Oneroa village, enjoying the variety of shops, artisan stores, cafes and restaurants available.

House Rules
- This property is entirely non-smoking.
- Check-in 2pm – 9pm. Bag drop from 11am. Checkout 11am.
- The lodge is not suitable for children under 16, groups (more than 4) or pets.
- Please be respectful of other guests and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm
- Please do not take food or drink from marked shelves or fridges that are not yours
- The kitchen and bathroom in the main building are for all guests, please make sure to clean up any mess after using them.
- If a cancellation/amendment is made within 5 days of arrival, loss of 100% of booking price. Earlier cancellations will have a full refund minus a BookIt service charge of $20.
- Please do not feed birds or animals on the property
- Please respect the property and any requests or instructions from us.

The best budget accommodation by far on Waiheke Island. The feeling is one of almost not being in New Zealand but in some overseas resort. A natural environment of trees, shrubs, flowers, wetland and animals. Laid back out of the milling crowds that can swamp this little island. Yet close to the beaches, shops and wharf. The host of this special gem of a resort is very knowledgeable and kind.
Really loved my stay - beautiful country setting with ducks and pukekos. Gorgeous cottage and immaculately clean kitchen that was great to cook in. Highly recommended - would definitely return here
A beautiful place. Lots of wood and natural materials with emphasis on the environment. The tent was beautifully furnished and had a great atmosphere. It was ideal for my partner and myself as we just wanted a quiet getaway. The shared facilities were great and the little outhouse was a combination of ruggedness and luxury, made of wood but with perfectly heated water and a rainhead shower. One morning we could see a pukeko on its nest just outside the wooden walls.
